The rising sun shines through the cracks in the windows, letting the perfect amount of morning light illuminate the room.
The house is quiet and still.
The little ones are still resting peacefully upstairs in their beds.
The only sound is the quiet sighs of the babe, who is contently sleeping next to me.
The warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills the room and I inhale it deeply.
This is my time.
It is peaceful and quiet and calm.
This tranquil hour of the morning is mine, just for me.
I open the laptop and place my hands on the raised keys.
I sit and think and work peacefully.
My head is clear and I am able to untangle those thoughts swirling inside my head.
My fingers type furiously against the keyboard, stringing together moments and memories, frustrations and worries.
This is my time.
The quiet room lets me sort through my thoughts.
The sun beaming through the windows gives me energy. Hope. Life.
This is my outlet.
My time to unwind. Recharge. Refresh.
This is my time.
I get lost in the words, the thoughts, and the emotions.
Before I know it, that quiet peaceful hour is over.
Tiny footsteps on the floor above me quickly bring me back to the moment.
The little ones come bounding down the stairs, bright eyed and ready to start their day.
And thanks to that quiet, calm hour, so am I.

Yes. The quiet and the stillness of the early morning is my sanity saver. I don’t know what I’d do without those minimal hours of solitude to wake up, sip my coffee and enjoy the peace.

Exactly. I need that hour to myself so much!

My quiet time is between 3-5pm when the toddler is at his grandparents and the baby takes his ultra long afternoon nap. I love it.

Agreed. I use their nap time to recharge and breathe.

Sounds wonderful. That is my favorite quiet time too…But I haven’t had one of those in a while.

There is just something so refreshing about the early morning hours.
Me again..Love that new name!
I used to have that quiet time in the morning like you and then the toddler decided to start getting up between 6 and 6:30!! So now my mornings are filled with rushing around trying to get ready for work and dealing with a busy/whiney/needy two year old.

Oh no! I don’t know what I’d do if my kids got up that early!
I love writing in the morning, too. It’s when I’m at my freshest and most creative, and the quiet of dawn is so calming. The 7am hour is my favorite time to write because it’s late enough that I feel like I’ve slept in, but still early enough to feel like I have a little piece of the day all to myself.
Unfortunately, though, I rarely get that time to myself anymore since Lil’ Bit wakes up so early these days. When I do, it’s a gift. And I sit there and drink my tea and savor it.
Wait? They read in their rooms before coming down? You need to teach me your tricks

I need to find me some of that! I’m still trying to figure out how I lost it and when I’ll be able to get it back.
Glad you get that quiet hour, you deserve it! Also, there’s nothing better than morning sun and coffee
Thank goodness for time to recharge.
My time is at night after the kids go to bed and it is very needed!
I have had hours like these (although not many since I’m not a morning person) and they really are peaceful.
I love that time of day. Even though I don’t always need to get up early on the weekends, it’s worth it. The peace is so refreshing, not to mention the opportunity to get some serious work done. I’m glad you have this time to yourself – you deserve it.
There truly is nothing like a few quiet moments to ourselves, stolen and short as they may be. Enjoy whatever you get, whenever you get it.

I’m enjoying a little of that right now … there’s a calm you just can’t replicate at any other time than 4 a.m.
Too bad no one delivers pizza at 4 a.m. I’d so split one with you.
